Ingredients
- 12 slices thick-cut bacon
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place a wire cooling rack on top of the foil and spray it lightly with non-stick cooking spray.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the light brown sugar, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Lay the bacon slices in a single layer on the prepared wire rack. Do not let the slices overlap.
- Brush the bacon slices lightly with the maple syrup.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture evenly over each slice of bacon, pressing down lightly so the sugar sticks to the maple syrup.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the bacon is crisp and the sugar is melted and deeply caramelized.
- Remove from the oven and let the bacon cool on the wire rack for 5 to 10 minutes to allow the candy coating to harden before serving.
